ABOUT BRAND
The name Gevril benchmarks fine taste, a quality born of exquisite workmanship and distinguished style. Born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in the Le Locle Valley, Jacques Gevril began his career in the mid-1700’s as a restorer of timepieces. He was a sought-after master of horology, and in 1743 he created his first Chronometer. Most notably, Gevril became the first exporter of Swiss Timepieces when he was called upon by His Majesty the King of Spain in 1758 to produce a personal timepiece. Gevril set out for Madrid on an historic journey to present his masterpiece, impressing the King who was so astounded by Gevril’s talent that he appointed him Royal Swiss Watchmaker to the Spanish Crown.
Gevril became known for his impeccable craftsmanship and for creating timepieces of unmistakable quality and beauty. He passed his legacy onto his family, who to this day continue to make the finest timepieces in the world.
Gevril timepieces are displayed in museums across Europe--most notably the Museum Geneve and the Rolex Museum (where a Gevril pocket watch is displayed in the collection personally selected by the Wilsdorf family, the founder of Rolex).
Creating a Gevril timepiece is exhaustive, and Gevril expends years into the design and manufacture of its rare and enduring timepiece collections. It manufactures only limited edition collections, with 6,000 Gevril watches created each year and each line limited to 500 (stainless steel) or 100 (gold) pieces. The company also sources only the best materials and accoutrements.
